Canadian television / radio personality George Stroumboulopoulos visited Tom in his living room Hollywood studio for a relaxed Thursday night of Tom Green Live. The show opens with Annie, Tom’s Siberian Husky on the #2 chair, and a joke from an e-mailer from earlier in the day. A clip of George interviewing former Vice President Al Gore is played while Tom and George discuss the news media and the difference between coverage in the US and Canada. A clip of Tom walking the streets of Saskatoon and sneaking into a radio station (with the aid of a “George Stroumboulopoulos” name-drop) is played and then the guys return.
Skyper Ken calls in to the show asking George about his interview with Noam Chomsky, George answers and then proclaims TGL revolutionary. Tom talks a bit about the brief eBay fire-sale show from the night before, then takes another Skyper who asks George about his stint hosting Fandemonium on Much Music, which he left becuase he felt he was too old for the direction of the channel. After a bit more chat about the various shows George has hosted a of George interviewing Arnold Schwarchenegger is played while Tom lets Steve (his other Siberian Husky) into the house studio.
After the clip ends George describes the process of chasing down guests for his various shows, then describes discovering the Tom Green show on Rogers Cable 10 in 1996. George asks Tom about his experience with Much Music during the period in which his rap group Organized Ryhme had the hit “Check the O.R.” in rotation. A few moments of Hockey talk and they move back to Skype.
Skyper Silvia from Quebec has met George and asks if he is coming to Montreal (he is), Tom asks her if “a small gray squirrel is eating a piece of cheese at her house” in French. Tom shows off Strombo.com, George’s website, then speaks more French to Silvia while discussing the act of celebrity blogging and MySpace imposters. A cliup entitled “Top 5 Mustache’s” from one of George’s show is played (in which Tom Selleck wins for his work in Magnum P.I.) prompting a discussion on Abraham Lincoln and American presidents.
A new Skyper asks how he felt about being nominated for Greatest Canadian, then another asks George about his favorite bands (Foo Fighters, White Stripes, Metallica and System of a Down), then they take a Skype call from Ken who was on earlier in the show as well. Skype pranker Mike is the last Skype call of the night, George reads a few sensible questions from the IM system as Tom goes off on Logan for not figuring out an effective non-pranker-friendly Skype system. Tom threatens to cut that part out of the show, then sets up a nice edit point to end the show.
