Yesterday’s news of Tom Green Live’s (which seems to have been renamed in the media to The Tom Green Show) future simulcast on traditional TV has caused quite a stir on insider websites across the National Internet. Among the many reports comes one from Variety, the grand-daddy of all Hollywood business rags, which revealed several new details on how the roll-out of the show on the boob-tube will play out…
- In the next few weeks, Debmar-Mercury (the production company in partnership with the show), will try to get between five and eight TV stations to agree to take on the show for two months at the beginning of 2008.
- The show is looking for latenight time slots, preferably 11 p.m.
- The show is focusing on TV stations affiliated with the Fox network, the CW or MyNetworkTV.
- Participating stations will pay no cash license fees and keep all 14 minutes of per-hour commercial time. In exchange, stations agree to a specific number of promotional spots to raise viewer awareness of the series.
- After the January-February run, participating test stations get “first dibs” on the series.
- Participating stations will be allowed to rerun each episode on their websites.
